Mangalesh Dabral was born in Kafalpani, Tehri Garhwal. Dabral is one of the best-known Hindi poets at present. He has published seven collections of poetry as well as a travel diary. He has also translated (from English) poetry by Brecht, Enzensberger, Ritsos, Neruda and Herbert. At the moment, he lives in Delhi and is attached as editor to the Hindi daily newspaper Sahara Samay.
